How marketing, like a plant, needs proper care

We care for small businesses the same way we care for our plants.

Our plants are our pride and joy, especially after spending so much time at home due to the pandemic. We are plant people, and we’re obsessed (we have over 40 houseplants plus an outdoor garden). Each plant requires a unique concoction of elements to thrive. Our goal is for our plants to grow strong and healthy, so our living room will eventually turn into a jungle of big plants.

We know your business is your pride and joy. Trust us, we’ll treat it as such. With tender care, we’ll plan a marketing strategy for your specific business needs accordingly. Below are some of the ways in which an effective marketing plan can lead to long-term success. As your marketers, our goal is to help grow your business to be as strong and as fruitful as possible.

Plants need consistent sunlight, and small businesses need consistent branding.

The sun is powerful and valuable to plants, and the messaging your brand puts online should be, too. Your branding should shine a light on what your business does well. Consistency is key here for many reasons, but mainly so your brand stays in the forefront of your target audiences’ minds. If your brand is somewhat predictable, or consistent, your customers will recognize that brand paired with their memory of experiencing your business.

Delivering a message that is powerful, valuable, and consistent, like the sun, will drive your customers to conversion.

Similar to how plants need water, small businesses need conversion-driven marketing.

Water, in the business world, is cash. The goal with everything you do is to make money. Conversions directly connect your marketing efforts to purchases. All marketing efforts should be aimed toward conversion, so your business can continue to profit. If your marketing reports don’t include conversion ratios, it’s almost impossible to determine ROI on marketing projects.

Plants need nutritious soil to grow. Small businesses need a strong online platform to grow sales.

We see many small businesses trying to grow roots without an online marketplace. Today, relying on in-person shopping, or even an Etsy store, does not create a sustainable platform for pandemic-proof growth. Establishing an online marketplace, as well as referring all customers (in-person and on social media) to it for future purchases, will give your business the nutritious soil it needs to grow a strong customer base.

Strong plants have healthy roots, as successful businesses have loyal customer bases.

“Repeat customers are the best customers” is a common phrase that you’ve probably heard before.

However, we think that loyal customers are the best customers. Not only do they return to purchase your product more than once, but also they become ambassadors of your brand.

Social media allows you to connect with your loyal customer base now more than ever before. Interacting on social media gives loyal customers the chance to be a part of your growth.

There are ways to set up your website and e-commerce store to increase customer loyalty, as well. It takes time to develop loyal customers, just as it takes time to develop online arenas (like your website and social media platforms) that encourage loyalty.

Plants do well when fertilized, and small businesses benefit from timely digital advertising.

Fertilizer is not one-size-fits-all, and neither is digital advertising. The wrong fertilizer could end up burning the roots of your plant. If your digital advertising misses the target or conveys the wrong message, it can hurt the image of your brand. If done correctly, digital advertising can give your business a boost in traffic. That, paired with conversion-driven marketing, can push your business to flourish.

Plants talk, and so do analytics.

One of the most important things when caring for plants is attention. Its important to keep a close eye on the current status of plants, because you can gather a lot from their appearance. If they are droopy, they need water. If the leaves are burnt, they need less sunlight. Marketing is no different, and we understand that your business will need proper attention. Analytics are marketing’s way of telling us what your business and/or marketing strategy needs (especially with data from your website). We’ll keep a close eye on the performance of the current marketing strategy, and adjust as needed.
